Esthetic Dentistry Biomimetic Dentistry
The Nejad Institute provides courses and training in restorative dentistry with the biomimetic approach. Restorative course subjects include both Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry and Biomimetic Esthetic Dentistry The courses combine education of research-backed science with proven techniques and hands-on application. The biomimetic approach replaces traditional tooth preparation requirements mechanical retention, in-favor of strong durable adhesion that mimics and preserves the structure and function of natural teeth.
Traditional dental procedures rely on preparation designs that accommodate the restorative material or technique. This includes preparation features such as retention and resistance form, as well as tooth reduction to meet the strength requirements of the restorative material instead of prioritizing the preservation of intact tooth structure. As a result, the restored tooth has significant additional preparation and a significantly higher chance of complications such as pain, sensitivity, root canal treatment, recession, and fracture.
In contrast, the Biomimetic approach unites an understanding and appreciation of the biomechanics of natural teeth with principles and techniques which maximize adhesion. These concepts comprise the necessary components to mimic the natural tooth most faithfully. Restorative materials replicate the properties of the dental structures (enamel, dentin, dej) and healthy intact tooth structure is preserved through adhesion without additional preparation requirements. The biomimetically restored tooth mimics the strength, function, and esthetics of natural teeth. Biomimetic restorations include composite fillings, partial coverage restorations (ceramic or resin inlays and onlays), and when necessary, full-coverage ceramic restorations. However, the application technique and material selection makes a significant difference in the performance of these techniques and therefore it is important to have a sound understanding of the science.

Matt Nejad DDS
Dr. Matt Nejad is an expert in biomimetic and esthetic dentistry, practicing in Beverly Hills, CA. He is a Fellow and Scientific Advisor of the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry and a member of the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Products (SCDP). Dr. Nejad graduated from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 2010, where he also completed advanced training in esthetic and biomimetic dentistry. He started his private practice immediately after graduation and has been dedicated to full-time practice since.
His training institute, the Nejad Institute, provides advanced training in biomimetic and esthetic dentistry, attracting dentists from over 40 countries. Dr. Nejad is also a key opinion leader in the dental industry.
After graduating, Dr. Nejad started his own practice immediately so that he could provide Biomimetic and Esthetic dentistry exactly the way he envisioned. He also continued developing his training and expertise in Biomimetic Dentistry and started providing training courses with Dr. David Alleman. He was the youngest dentist to become a member of the USC faculty, teaching alongside his mentor Dr. Magne since 2010.
Today, Dr. Nejad is considered one of the top opinion leaders in the dental industry. He is committed to the research and scientific development of adhesive and biomimetic dentistry. He consults with top companies, helping develop innovative dental materials and new products. Dr. Nejad continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is a key opinion leader for multiple companies, and is a member of the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Products (SCDP).
His areas of research and interest are adhesion, polymerization stress, residual stress, biomechanics, occlusion, and esthetics.
